BELLMONT HS ATHLETICS

Bellmont put three runners in the top 25 of the 16-team sectional field at Taylor University Saturday to finish third and earn a berth in next week's regional. Hayden Whittenbarger again led the Braves, placing 12th in 17:10. Harry Gunsett had a great clutch run to shatter his previous career best and finish 20th in 17:29. Next came Maddux Miller (25th in 17:50), Hudson Krull (28th in 17:52), Landon Rich (44th in 18:34), Logan Whitacre (54th in 19:06), and Ethan Curtis (58th in 19:15). There were 98 runners in the race. Bluffton edged Wapahani, 66-80, for the team title. Trevor Schwartz of Adams Central dominated the individual race to win in 16:10, well ahead of runner-up Levi Johns of Bluffton (16:24). The regional will be held Saturday at the Huntington University course.
