BELLMONT HS ATHLETICS

Hayden Whittenbarger finished second, and four of his teammates finished in the top 13 as the Braves won the seven-team Bellmont Invitational Wednesday evening. The Braves bested runner-up New Haven by 22 points (43-65). New Haven's Brian Garcia won the individual title with a time of 10:32. The usual 5K (3.1 mile) distance was modified to two miles because of the extreme heat. Whittenbarger toured the course in 10:53. Hudson Krull finished 5th in 11:11. Harry Gunsett (11:47), Maddux Miller (11:49), and Ethan Curtis (11:52) took places 11 through 13 to seal the win.
